Egil Søby



Egil Søby (born 25 November 1945) is a Norwegian sprint canoer who competed from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. He won gold medal on K4 1000 metres at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City (with Steinar Amundsen, Tore Berger and Jan Johansen),〔("1968 Summer Olympics – Mexico City, Mexico – Canoeing" ) – ''databaseOlympics.com'' (Retrieved on February 5, 2008)〕 and obtained a bronze medal at the 1972 Olympics in Munich on the same distance.〔("1972 Summer Olympics – Munich, Germany – Canoeing" ) – ''databaseOlympics.com'' (Retrieved on February 5, 2008)〕
Søby also won three medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with a gold (K-4 10000 m: 1970) and two silvers (K-2 10000 m: 1966, 1971).
